Capital of well-being
By Giuseppe Brandi
Mayor of Ischia
Incomparable delights await tourists who decide to visit us.
In my frequent travels with Alitalia, I have always been impressed by its in-flight magazine Ulisse, especially for the high quality of its contents. As a result, I find the idea of taking part directly, as mayor of Ischia, very exciting. Ischia is. history and culture from 730 BC to the present day; Ischia is. breathtaking views, unique colours and flavours; Ischia is. sea so crystal-clear that it is full of dolphins; Ischia is. fish cooked in the steam of the hot springs on the seashore; Ischia is. fishermen preparing their nets, and shepherds guarding their flocks on the slopes of Mount Epomeo; Ischia is. magnificent depths where giant Posidonia seaweed grows in abundance, and chestnut woods where here and there the rare wild papyrus can be found; Ischia is. a swim at dawn in the shadow of the Castle and relaxing in the thermal parks; Ischia is. miraculous waters and wellness, a promise of health and serenity; Ischia is. the unique spectacle of the Feast of the Sea on the rocks of Sant'Anna, the period costumes in the procession of Sant'Alessandro and the infectious rhythm of the 'Ndrezzata.
Ischia is. a combination of unique, heaven-sent gifts that we all have the duty to preserve.
The Municipality of Ischia is already taking a series of steps aimed at further improving the island and above all, with the councillor responsible for tourism, Davide Conte, we shall keep a close eye on what we're offering and what people want, in order to consolidate the undisputed role of "Wellness Capital" traditionally attributed to Ischia.
We extend a cordial welcome to all Ulisse readers and look forward to seeing them on Ischia.
